‘You Suck John Fisher’ — A Lone Fan Could Be Heard Heckling The A’s Owner on The Team’s TV Broadcast
As I sat at home on Monday night, watching the A’s fall to 9-34, the club’s worst start through 43 games in franchise history, I heard something that made me pause the TV broadcast and run it back. Wait, I said to myself, incredulous. Did I really just hear that?
I did.
On a night when the A’s announced an attendance of 2,064 fans — the lowest non-pandemic figure since 1979 — the shouts of a lone heckler echoed through a cavernous, all but empty Coliseum, clearly audible on the TV broadcast on NBC Sports California.
“You suck John Fisher,” the unseen fan bellowed, taking aim at the A’s owner.
I never imagined I’d see and hear such a thing while watching a major league game. It’s truly the movie Major League sprung to life. Wild.
